CANYONS

If dust we came and dust we go

Then we must be carried by the wind

If it’s a river how we flow to wherever this all ends

Then it’s buried deep inside of us to bend

Our hearts know how to mend themselves after splitting at the seams

We crumble, move, and break

Like a rugged canyon scape

Cemented wills at times, but love will bring them down

And a trail to follow shows itself at day

A layer of the earth on a whim could blow away

But maybe we were never meant to stay

Our hearts survive the weathering when the blazing sun goes down

We crumble, move and break like a rugged canyon scape

While there’s only so much wind a human soul can brave

There’s no taking away what the desert gave

You’re the echo I want to hear when sound disappears

And we’re standing as a gentle rain falls down

Every moment that we give will one day come around

A transience of nature through the years

Our hearts know to rebuild themselves after losing in a storm

We crumble, move, and break

Like a rugged canyon scape
