BLUEBONNET

Where are you going

Down this long, windy, hill country road?

Cause the speed of your car blew harsher than the wind's winter hiss

Why are you crying?

The passenger seat's all fogged-up and blind

Now I'm left to my chlorophyll mind to fill in the missing

Wish these stems could hold a set of arms

And my blue could bring the earth a bit more color

This humankind leads a strange sense of time

Where they always, always, always are running past me

I would forfeit my roots

Just to give you a moment of bliss

Cause an innocent woman like you shouldn't be hurting like this

I'd grant you my leaves if they would gift you the hope to begin

Cause I'm doing fine, I don't mind, I'll just grow some again

Wish these stems could hold a set of arms

And my blue could bring the earth a bit more color

This humankind leads a strange sense of time

Where they always, always, always are running past me

I'll just be waving here

In my field of bluebonnet earth

As the dirt keeps my place so I don't forget

I hope you find me just right when you think that all life is pain

When you've set out to bury your dreams and then I'm in the way

Wish these stems could hold a set of arms

And my blue could bring the earth a bit more color

This humankind leads a strange sense of time

Where they always, always, always are running past me
